Welcome to Advantage Vision Training, LLC (AVT, LLC). At AVT, LLC our primary mission is to educate and train baseball and softball hitters on the importance of vision in how it relates to their success as a hitter with the ultimate goal of giving the hitter more time to react, or, as we call it, “slowing the pitch down”. We accomplish this through a combination of educating the hitter about both vision and pitch characteristics and live training with our patented Pitch Recognition System
First, it is my belief that vision as it relates to being a successful hitter is overlooked, under-appreciated and, definitely, under-trained. I believe this is due to the fact that vision is something a hitter does more off the field than on the field. You wake up in the morning, open your eyes and you see. It’s like breathing, in that you don’t realize you’re doing it until something drastically changes to grab your attention (like trying to catch your breath or your vision suddenly gets blurry). Whereas, when you swing a bat you know you’re swinging a bat. When you field a ground ball you know you’re fielding a ground ball.
Of course, everybody will agree that you have to be able to see to be able to hit. But “to see” can be a very vague term. Does the hitter see the pitch out of the hand? Most every hitter will say “yes” but can the hitter “see” the details of the pitch? If so, at what point of the pitch can the hitter “see” these details?
In the following videos, we go over the following information:
- The importance of vision and vision training for the success of hitters
- The difference between vision and visual acuity
- Knowledge of the physics of a pitch
- Live vision training and its benefits
